So I knit a pair of fingerless owl mittens! Purely because I felt like knitting something for hands, not because it's needed for any immediate use, especially as summer is in full swing right now.

A cute little trash panda!
My cousin is absolutely in love with pandas! After seeing my cute little crocheted octopi, she asked me if I could crochet a raccoon for her! Even though I think my crochet skills are still shaky, I couldn't say no to my favourite cousin. To be honest, I couldn't find a pattern of raccoons online that I was satisfied with, so I challenged myself with some in improvisation for the face and using the head, muzzle, and tail from this pattern...
and he body, arms, legs, and ears from this pattern.

Octopi incoming!
So, after finishing the blanket, I understandably wanted to work on something really quick! Actually, I didn't even feel like knitting. Instead, I decided to brush up my crochet skills which I've always wanted to do! I decided to make some amigurumi dolls! My second attempt at making dolls since I created Lumpy the bear ages ago. But my first time crocheting dolls. So, it was pretty exciting. I really wanted something that was simple so I could brush up my techniques, while also challenging myself. In the end, I settled on the crocheted octopus.
Aren't they just the sweetest looking creations ever?! I'm so in love with them! And I thought they'd make cute little gifts to couples or wedding/ engagement decorations. :)) I definitely want to make more crocheted dolls in the future!
So super adorable right?! Added little button eyes, and some pink cloth for the cheeks/blush, and embroidered a cute little smile on. But I thought something was missing, so I added a....
... Cute miniature top hat! I think it really completed the look. But even then, it wasn't enough. Partly because I had a lot of black and white yarn left. And also, I thought, wouldn't it be cuter if I made a matching set of octopi?! So... I made Sir Octopi a girlfriend!
She's the exact same build as the gentleman octopus but with inverted colours, and I attached a cute little rose instead of a top hat.

Nope, didn't stop knitting
So.. I know it's been pretty much HALF A YEAR since I last posted on here. But please, I have a really good excuse! ..... Okay, no I don't. I just kept making and ripping apart the project because I didn't like it. Then I kept starting and stopping knitting. Finally, when I finally got some motivation, it was summer, and it was too hot to be knitting a giant warm cuddly blanket. However, I can be proud to say that I am finally done, and I can move on with my life now! It's nice and lacy with some added fringes.
I used a chunky yarn instead of Aran like the pattern suggested, so as a result I was actually knitting length-wise. (It took me one 20 minute episode to do one row of this blanket... think about how long it took! Good thing I'm an experienced binge watcher!) Width-wise, it probably would've looked better if it was wider, but hey, it still covers the entire body. But it's proportions makes it more suited for a blanket you'd use while watching TV, rather than one you'd keep on your bed.
Not sure if you can tell from my pictures, but some of the yarn weren't from the same dye-lot (rookie mistake!) so in the light, and you can actually see that some of the colour is off from the rest. One thing is for sure though.... it will definitely keep me warm. Although since it's summer, the sun is already doing a great job of that ..
